William Penn Center Preschool is a Keystone STAR 2 facility.  Keystone STARS is a responsive system to improve, support, and recognize the continuous quality improvement efforts of early learning programs in Pennsylvania. Our system is guided by three core principles:

  • A whole child approach to education is essential to meeting the holistic and individual needs of each and every child and family.
  • Knowledgeable and responsive early care and education professionals are essential to the development of children and the support of families.
  • Building and sustaining ongoing positive relationships among children, families, early care and education professionals and community stakeholders is essential for the growth and development of every child.

Our goal is to give each child a warm environment that encourages the development of socialization skills, independence, and a positive self-image. Our experienced teaching staff embraces the view that each child is a unique person with an individual pattern and timing of social, physical, and intellectual development. Teachers manifest their respect for children by encouraging them to think for themselves, to make decisions, to work towards their own solutions, and express their own ideas and feelings. Our center offers a “hands on” approach to learning. This style of early childhood education is designed to foster creativity and expanded self-expression. William Penn Center teachers manifest their respect for children by encouraging them to think for themselves, make decisions, work toward their own solutions, and express their own ideas and feelings.
